Charming Historic Venues
In light of the historic southern charm of the venue, they have several different spaces that are available to use. The premier event space is the luxurious Silver Ballroom. This room is known for its formal elegance and features 3 Waterford Crystal chandeliers and ornate silver moldings. This is the perfect room for anyone looking for a princess or luxury feel.
Next up is the Centennial Room, connected to the Silver Ballroom. This space offers an outdoor balcony area that overlooks part of the city!
There is also the Gold Room! This is great for rehearsal dinners or cocktail hour!
Last is the Green Room. Historically this room used to be hottest brunch location in Chattanooga. In 2004 during renovations the room was transformed into a meeting and reception room that is used for more intimate gatherings of up to 100 people.
Southern Hospitality
Not only does the Read House have some amazing spaces to host your wedding, but they also offer food and beverage minimums that differ with the day of the week and time of year! Included in the minimum are tables, chairs, linens, centerpieces, chine, glassware, silverware, dance floor, and cake cutting! They have many different table options that can accommodate up to 450 guests. And for your ceremony the max capacity is 500 guests.

With such a rich history, this venue is sure to provide plenty of classy southern charm. The archways and wood details provide the perfect backdrop for silhouette pictures that are full of romance. Recent Renovations
The Read House just completed a $25 million dollar renovation that brought the roaring 20’s back to Chattanooga. The hotel even consulted a number of historians and architects to be sure that the renovations stayed true to the roaring 20’s and the original style of the Read House itself.

Fun Facts
- The first hotel located at the site of the Read House was originally called “The Crutchfield House” and opened in 1847
- During the Civil War, “The Crutchfield House” served as a hospital for wounded soldiers
- In 1927, a guest by the name of Annalisa Netherly was murdered in room 311. Her husband had discovered her with another man and slit her throat while she was in the bathtub.
- Several celebrity guests have stayed at the Read House including: Winston Churchill, Al Capone, Elvis Presley, Oprah Winfrey, and Robert Pattinson.
- The three large chandeliers in the Silver Ballroom are Waterford Crystal.

Before you book, here are a few things to consider! Peak season for the Read House used to be exclusively the fall, but recently they’ve had a lot of inquiries for the Spring wedding season too! It is typical for brides to book 9-12 months ahead of time, so if you’re wanting to book with the Read House, it’s never too soon! The Read House also suggests considering Fridays and Sundays as an option for your wedding. There is a better chance the venue will have availability on those days and you may be able to get a reduced rate!
